Support Services for Children, Young People and their Families
On the East Coast an interagency partnership between government and non-government agencies exists to provide support services for at risk children, young people and their families/whānau.
The partnership is called Strengthening Families. The partnership includes the schools, the Ngāti Porou Hauora, Te Rūnanga O Ngāti Porou, Safer Community Council, Group Special Education of Ministry of Education, Housing NZ Corporation, Child, Youth and Family, Police Youth Aid, Probation, ACC, Inland Revenue Child Support, the Department of Internal Affairs, Work and Income, Social Workers in Schools, and the Gisborne District Council.
